L’AVVENTURA DEL VETRO DAL RINASCIMENTO AL NOVECENTO TRA VENEZIA E MONDI LONTANI

26 JUNE - 7 NOVEMBER

As was the case with the Egypt never seen exhibition, the valuable, and largely unseen, collection that the mysterious Hapsburg official Taddeo de Tonelli donated to the museum is once again the basis of a major exhibition dedicated this time to glass.
Next to de Tonelli’s pieces, the exhibition consists of numerous examples from Venice, Africa and America bringing us closer to the history of glass and the places where it was made. This year the exhibition will be held in both the Buonconsiglio Castle and Castel Thun in Val di Non, and is a fascinating journey in search of the most important aspects of technique and style when, during the Renaissance period, the workshops of Murano glassmakers influenced history of European glass thanks to new discoveries such as crystal glass, milk glass and chalcedony and innovative techniques such as ‘reticello’ and ‘retortoli’ (twisted) filigree.
