![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Considered one of the finest scientifically oriented museums in Italy, the Tridentine Natural History Museum is housed in the sixteenth century Palazzo Sardagna in the heart of Trento and is noted for being a lively and dynamic institution. Alongside activities in research and environmental conservation, it dedicates particular attention to education and the promotion of science. Besides the large interactive exhibition on astronomy, SPACE!, visitors can explore the permanent exhibitions on the fauna, prehistory and geology of the alpine environment, recently completely refurbished. The ‘touch and feel’ approach has long been the museum’s distinctive trademark and it is a way of giving both adults and children an understanding of relatively complex issues. And children can enjoy a space all their own which is always open and where they can play with science and nature: L’Area Bandus. As well as the Trento museum, there are six other subsidiary spaces located in places of high cultural and tourist interest and which offer many special events: the Gianni Caproni Aeronautical Museum, the Alpine Botanical Garden at Viotte on Monte Bondone, the adjacent Terrace of the Stars, the Museum of Lake Dwellings on Lake Ledro with its Bronze Age artefacts, the Lake Tovel Limnology Station and the Predazzo Geological Museum. |
