MUSEO DIOCESANO TRIDENTINO

The museum, founded at the beginning of the twentieth century, is housed in the historic and central Palazzo Pretorio - the residence of the Prince Bishop since the early Middle Ages - and now hosts a valuable permanent display of furnishings, sculptures and paintings of the Trentino, Lombardy and Austrian school, Flemish tapestries and artefacts, as well as items relating to the Council of Trent. The museum, which also has rooms in Palazzo Libera in Villa Lagarina, opens this summer with an exhibition entitled "I call my art a trade"  (La mia arte io la chiamo mestiere), from 25th June till 18th  November, which looks at the famous engraver Remo Wolf and explores his life and artistic development from his first works in the early thirties up to 2002.

FESTE VIGILIANE

Celebrating Vigilio, the patron saint of Trento, these festivities feature historic reconstructions such as the Palio dell’oca, a raft race on the river Adige, the original Benedictine Dinner on Doss Trento and the Disfida dei Ciusi e dei Gobj which recalls the contest in bygone times between the inhabitants of Trentino and Feltre to secure provisions for themselves.

FESTE MADRUZZIANE

The name refers to the Madruzzo family, one of the oldest and most famous in Trentino’s history, and this event is a rediscovery and celebration of the village’s medieval roots. The crafts and traditions of the past - and of course the traditional dishes - are brought to life again in the village’s ancient streets, piazzas and vaults.
